Nurse Practitioner VPA Bone Health & Osteoporosis Ctr

Responsibilities

Functions as an advanced practice nurse within the practice with special focus in orthopedics and neurosciences. In collaboration with physicians, provides triage referral coordination, case management, education. Completes assessments, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes medications, and treats patients according to established protocols in collaboration with physicians. Acts as the med/surg products coordinator for the practice.

Job Essentials:

¿ Understands the range of treatment or service needed by the patient population served

¿ Demonstrates ability to provide service based on patient¿s age specific needs

¿ Performs H&P exam in timely fashion and in a developmentally and age-appropriate manner

¿ Collaborates with all team members in an effective and efficient manner

¿ Reports to physician pertinent information in a timely manner

¿ Documents findings clearly on medical record

¿ Reports abnormal and unusual findings to physician as needed

¿ Explains results and purpose of testing to patient/family

¿ Reports problems in patient evaluation and continuing care to supervising physician, as needed

¿ Is proactive in seeking input from physician

¿ Adheres to all medication policies/protocols

¿ Monitors patient¿s response to medication(s) and documents adverse reactions or side effects clearly in medical record

¿ Educates patient and family about prescribed medications and treatments

¿ Develops and utilizes educational resources and patient education material as needed (i.e., journals, tapes, lectures, etc.)

¿ Initiates patient education and assesses patient/family knowledge

¿ Utilizes appropriate resources

¿ Responds and answers to patient/family phone calls

¿ Participates at staff meetings

¿ Displays motivation and initiative in meeting the goals of the programs

¿ Utilizes resources effectively, including to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Masters degree and certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse is required. Current NJ RN license and appropriate Advance Practice licensure for specialty. Will collaborate closely with Medical Directors. Must have excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
