<description><![CDATA[<p>Summary:<br/>Provides secretarial and administrative support using knowledge of medical terminology and procedures in a hospital, clinic, or laboratory environment.  Compiles information for recording purposes and prepares reports.  Screens and directs telephone calls, schedules appointments, greets patients, visitors, and maintains patient flow.<br/><br/>Position Responsibilities:<br/>Greets patients and other visitors.  Maintains patient flow.  Addresses and resolves routine inquiries.  Screens and handles any calls and/or correspondence for requests for materials, records, patient appointment, ensuring HIPPA guidelines are followed.  Sorts and distributes mail.<br/><br/>Performs general registration and billing, obtaining pre-certifications, verifying appropriate coding, insurance, co-pays, medical records, and referrals. Acts as the direct liaison between the clinical information system users and information service staff as well as software application vendor.<br/>System Administration - Coordinates the planning and activities needed for the development and maintenance of the specified clinical system (RIS, CVIS, LIS, SIS); Provides day-to-day operation of clinical system equipment and other related activities. Works closely with Department Managers to ensure validation. Coordinates the development and implementation of applications, and programs for Virtua Departments to interact with the patient database. Designs, maintains, and improves existing databases, utilizing internal and external sources.  Ensures documentation of all soft ware and hard ware configurations.<br/><br/>Implementation &iquest; Coordinates resources required to ensure smooth implementation of the specified clinical system (RIS, CVIS, LIS, SIS).  Uses project team methodology in the design and implementation of radiology information system.  Arranges meetings with managers, staff, and other pertinent personnel that would be required to detail implementation. Monitors implementation and communicates updates to the project team and users. Establishes course of action to accomplish specific goals; assigns personnel and allocates resources, as applicable.<br/><br/>Teaching and User Application- Provides system functionality education to staff. Develops and initiates a clinical , system training program for physicians and staff as necessary based upon system specifications. Communicates updates in a timely fashion to clinical employees, ancillary departments, nursing, and information services.  Presents ongoing clinical system education programs for new and existing clinical employees and appropriate personnel in other hospital areas.<br/><br/>System Maintenance &iquest; Performs ongoing database maintenance to ensure the appropriate performance of the system for all users. Provides after-hours support as required.<br/>Team Leader/Project Leader- Investigates, identifies and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems within all clinical operational areas, working closely with Department Managers and Lead Technologists as well as involving the next level of administration as appropriate. Serves as a project and technical representative for the Department  and Virtua in issues relating to specified clinical systems (radiology, laborartory, cardiovascular, surgical systems).<br/><br/>Compliance with policies and standards &iquest; Assists in the development of departmental and system policies and procedures associated with specified clinical system (RIS, CVIS, LIS, SIS).<br/><br/>Performance Improvement &iquest; Participates in performance improvement activities. Works closely with Quality Assurance/Quality Control personnel to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes that include further integration into operations.<br/>Provide 24 x 7 on-call support as required.  Adhere to IS Business Practices and Project Methodology.<br/><br/>Position Qualifications Required<br/>Experience Required:<br/>A comprehensive working knowledge of automated spreadsheets, report writing, databases and statistical graphics is required. <br/>Must be able to communicate effectively.  <br/>Must have a general understanding of logic relating to computer applications and be able to access and utilize information from other hospital information systems.  <br/>Must develop an understanding of hospital policies and procedures relating to system application and Information System security. <br/>Must be able to work 24 hours, 7 days/week on-call as required.<br/><br/>In addition, the following experience is required for each clinical area:<br/>Cardiovascular CVIS/ Radiology-RIS- A minimum of 5 years clinical  or IT experience..
